Specimen:

EDTA whole blood; 5mL (minimum 2mL with the exception of babies).  Contact NLHRS for specimens other than those listed.  

Note: Specimens categorized as “other” are not subject to accreditation by the Standards Council of Canada for the specific scopes of accreditation published on www.scc.ca.

Specimen Processing, Storage and Shipping:

Ambient temperature (received within 48 hours of collection).

Transportation of Dangerous Goods:

Shipping of specimens shall be done by a TDG certified individual in accordance with TDG regulations. For additional information regarding classification of specimens for the purposes of shipping, consult either Part 2 Appendix 3 of the TDG Regulations or section 3.6.2 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations as applicable.
