Description:

The West Nile virus detection panel consists of 5 to 10 samples (containing a range of viral titres) of inactivated mosquito homogenates in lysis buffer and 70% ethanol.

Scope:

Proficiency panel for the molecular detection of West Nile virus in mosquitoes.

Fees:

 There is no cost to the participants.

Eligibility criteria for participation:

Provincial and regional public health laboratories or hospital laboratories that provide testing for West Nile virus in mosquito samples. These laboratories could also be from academia or from the private sector provided that they are testing on behalf of the provincial or regional public health laboratories.

Confidentiality arrangements:

Participants are assigned alphanumeric codes which anonymizes their identity.
