Rubella and Measles Serology Proficiency Panel

The Rubella and Measles serology proficiency panel is offered once a year in the fall. Blind panels of sera are sent to participating laboratories to test for antibodies against rubella IgG, rubella IgM, measles IgG, and measles IgM, as applicable. Results are compiled and sent electronically to participants.
Determination of assigned value: The assigned value is determined by the MMR unit by pre-testing samples.
Evaluation of performance: For participants to pass, the results must be identical to the expected results determined by the MMR unit during pre-testing.
Report distribution: A preliminary feedback report of the results will be sent following receipt of participant results. Final Individual participant reports will be provided to each participating laboratory which includes a final aggregate report with compiled participant results.
Proficiency in detection of IgG and IgM antibodies directed against rubella and measles virus.

Participants are assigned alphanumeric codes which anonymizes their identity. Participant’s contact information and results are not shared among the group.
