Description:

In a calendar year, each participant receives 2 panels consisting of 5 sera each for syphilis testing. They will receive a report following each panel with their results compared to expected results.

Scope:

The NML Syphilis Serology Proficiency Program is designed to test the performance of laboratories conducting a variety of treponemal and non-treponemal tests. Participants include provincial public health laboratories, hospitals, Canadian Blood Services, private companies and the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) along with their affiliates. Our ultimate goal is to improve laboratory services across Canada and other countries in the serodiagnosis of syphilis.

Eligibility criteria for participation:

Laboratories performing syphilis serology testing on serum and/or CSF samples

Confidentiality arrangements:

Participants are assigned numeric codes which anonymizes their identity. Participant’s contact information and results are not shared among the group.
