Detection of Tick-borne Pathogens by Real-time PCR

The panel consists of 10 - 20 samples (containing a range of bacterial copy numbers) of either ½ ticks or DNA extracts based on consultation with the laboratory.
The tick-borne pathogens panel evaluates DNA extraction and amplification procedures for the following pathogens - Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, Borrelia miyamotoi, Babesia species, Ehrlichia chaffeensis and Anaplasma phagocytophilum. It is provided to laboratories that are implementing tick testing procedures.
There is no cost to the participants.
Provincial and regional public health laboratories or hospital and veterinary laboratories that provide testing for the detection of tick-borne pathogens. These laboratories could also be from academia or from the private sector provided that they are testing on behalf of the provincial or regional public health laboratories.
Participants are assigned alphanumeric codes which anonymizes their identity.
