Description:
The WNV serological panel consists of 6 serum samples and is distributed annually in May.
- Determination of assigned value: The assigned value is determined through pre-testing by VBZD using a EURIMMUN West Nile IgG ELISA, an in-house West Nile IgM MAC ELISA, as well as a Plaque Reduction Neutralization Test (PRNT).
- Evaluation of performance: Binomial determination (positive/negative) based on correct determination of the presence of IgM and/or IgG antibodies towards WNV.
- Report distribution: Panel results are distributed directly back to clients ~1 month after panel distribution; clients do not send results directly back to VBZD.

An external quality assurance panel for the serological detection of West Nile Virus IgG and IgM antibodies.

Eligibility criteria for participation:
Must be a Canadian public reference laboratory. Other laboratories/institutions will be considered individually.
Confidentiality arrangements:
Participants are assigned alphanumeric codes which anonymizes their identity. Participant’s contact information and results are not shared among the group.
