Description:

The Parasite Genomics Unit, within the Bacteriology and Enteric Diseases Division, provides reference, surveillance, and research services for food- and water-borne parasitic pathogens of public health importance, including Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Cyclospora, and other enteric parasites. The unit applies genomic and molecular epidemiology approaches to characterize parasites from human, food, water, and environmental sources, supporting outbreak detection, source attribution, surveillance, and public health investigations. In collaboration with partners across Canada and internationally, the unit advances tools and methods to improve the prevention and control of enteric parasitic diseases.
