The Special Bacteriology Unit (SBU), part of the Bioforensics Assay Development and Diagnostics Section of the National Microbiology Laboratory Branch, focuses on the provision of diagnostic CL-2 reference services for unusual, rare, difficult-to-identify, or novel human bacterial pathogens. As well as conducts research and development for novel bacterial characterization methodologies.
